I want to get a scope for my carry handle.  I want to make sure I can still see iron sights.  I also haven't decided between a 3-9 or a small straight power like a 3 or 4.  I know you get what you pay for, but it is just for plinking type activities and I would prefer not to lose a cheek!  Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

I'm not the scope expert here, but I do know that there are several mounts available that allow you to still use the irons.

Magnified optics on the carry handle can be a problem.  There are typically 2 ways to mount - on top of the carry handle, or on a scout rail.

Mounting on top of the carry handle will usually be too high for a good cheek weld, though you can still use the iron sights if the carry handle doesn't obscure them.

Mounting on a scout rail requires a sturdy railed handguard and a scout scope, typically limited to lower powers (2-4x, sometimes up to 8x).

The other option is a non-magnified optic, like a red dot or holosight, mounted on a gooseneck mount from the carry handle or on a handguard rail.  These can allow the iron sights to be used if the combo of scope and mount are good.

Here's a Leupold mounted on top of a carry handle:

and an Aimpoint clone mounted on a railed handguard, which gives absolute co-witness with this mount:

I don't have a pic of a gooseneck mount, but here's an article about mounting an inexpensive one:

I remember the Colt Delta HBAR.  I thought it was always an interesting weapon.  I don't know how practical it would be.  Here is a picture.

Here is a set-up that I had a few years ago.

I had to install the check rest to get a good check weld.  Once installed this rifle shot great.  It was easy to hit clay pigeons off the sand berm at 200 and 300 yards.

The mount that was holding the scope rings did allow the use of the iron sights.
Unfortunaltly, the check rest got in the way of using the iron sights.  So I would have to remove the check rest if I wanted to use the iron sights. (but I never did)
