What are the differences between these 2 sights? besides one can go deeper in water than the other?

The differance is the 553 uses a built in mount using arms levers, a tetherd battery compartment, and CR123 batt's

The 553 has built-in throw levers, but I feel the 552 and a LaRue mount is the right way to go for about the same money. The 553 is not as flexible about where it can be mounted, and eats a lot of real estate on the rail. They both have the same run-time if you're running lithium batteries.

I have a RRA entry tac with a DD Lite 7.0 rail ... so i have alot of rail space.Thanks for the suggestion tho.. i will look into it.

I prefer the 552 w/ Larue mount. I think the 553 looks like an orthopedic baby shoe and I have ARMS' chincey little levers.

The 552/Larue mount is sexy and studier.

I should also add that I have both, but really prefer the 552/LaRue setup for its versatility. I haven't chucked my 553 in the trash, but if I buy another Eotech, it'll be the 552 and LaRue mount.

I happen to like my 553 and the lever mounting system is rock solid on my top rail. Also it's a much better protected unit then the 552. Also the 123A battery is the battery that all newer systems use. Ever see a Surefire Combat Flashlight using the old AAs?

You don't want to bridge the rail on the upper and the quad rail with your optics. Not my opinion but what I read by many knowledgeable members including Mark LaRue.
