| I was looking at buying a Red dot sight for my pistol cal. carbine and went to look at the burris 1x35 Xtreme Tactical Speeddot Sight that mounts with a aimpoint style ring and also saw the new burris mini dot sight the "FastFire" which looks like the doctor optic sight. I am haveing a hard time on which of these to buy the both look nice does anyone own these sights have any real user feedback about them? I really kind of like the Fastfire but just wonder if it really works well is so small it almost seems like a toy. |

My fastfire is on backorder. After seeing one at a gunshow and comparing it to a doc op i ordered one for 165.00. Cant wait to get it, I am going to try it on both rifles and a pistol and will probably end up with three of them. The first rifle it is going on it will be the primary optic |

I've got the Fastfire on a carbine. Had to use a small riser to get it above the front sight. I works as well as my Eotech. Covers about 4.5 MOA. Battery is common CR2032 supposed to last 4 years if you don't turn it off. Mine has been turned on since I got it, about two months, and it's still going. I don't think it is as durable as the EOTech but LaRue makes an armored mount for it. I also just put one on my S&W M&P .40 in place of the rear sight. It takes the recoil of the slide no problem. It's supposed to withstand 1000 G's. I got mine for $165 from Optics Planet before they raised their price to $192. Jack |

Do you have to dismount the Burris Fastfire to change batteries? If so, are the Burris mounts designed so it returns back to zero, or do you have to re-zero it? How does it compare to the Pride Fowler and the Docter? The Burris is twice as heavy as those 2. Is its lense area bigger? The other 2's lense areas are roughly 7/8" wide by 5/8" tall. The other 2 are roughly 1-7/8" L x 1" W x 15/16" T. How big is the Burris? |
Loss of zero is my main concern. If it is only held down to the base with two screws and there is no positive orienting/indexing feature, I doubt very seriously that it will return to its windage zero after removal. Is there something about the sight/base interface that forces it back to zero as the screws are tightened? |
The Doctor indexes by way of steel pins in the mount base... and I believe the fastfire uses the same system. |
| That is correct there are some pins that force the mount and sight to line up when put back togather. I sighted in yesterday evening and today put a brand new Energizer 2032 battery in I notcied the one that came with the sight was a no name made in China or something battery so I wanted a good Japan made battery cell in the sight. Anyway I changed it out and shot 5 times impact point was still good at 50 yards. Overall The sight worked very well even with a flashlight. The only thing I could find is I noticed in very dark area outdoors rural farm I could see the red dot flickering like the sight was trying to adjust power(brightness) to adjust to the super dark area. It didn't affect the sights abilty to aim and shoot but I did find it alittle annoying. The FastFire seems to be a good little mini sight system I like it alot, but I still like my eotech's better in alot of ways for a Primary sight. |

I agree about the EOTech. I'm planning to get a 512 in a LaRue mount for one of my AR's. But for my G17L and Ruger Mk II, this Burris FastFire sounds like just the ticket. I called Optics Planet, but they are out of stock. Anyone know of a vendor that actually has these in stock. If so, could you post the name of the business and the phone number to order? |
