I was playing with my ACOG today, its BRIGHT and sunny outside here in S Fla. and looking through the scope is killing me, its so bright its uncomfortable to look through.

My question is, what can I do to cut down the massive amount of bright light coming through the optic w/o losing its effectiveness? OR am I just being a pussy!

Wear sunglasses then you wanker.

Cover the tiber optic pipe with something.  Cover more or less of it to adjust brightness.  I use a cut piece of bike tube.  Or you can use tape.

No fiber optic, its an TAO1NSN.

Its fine with shades but w/o them holy shit!!!

Woops. should have read closer.

Basically, wear sunglasses and suck it up.  You could presumably cover the objective lens with some semi-transparent material.

would a killflash help out? It seems like it would knock down light coming in at angles(just no more looking at the sun for fun with it)

Im gonna get one shortly, but I doubt it will cut light transmission into the optic

Killflash will help some but not a lot.  I you take a Butler Creek cap cut so that if fits on the ACOG and drill a ½” hole in the front of the cap it will reduce the amount of light and will not effect you field-of-view.  It works like an F-Stop in a camera. You do have to tape the cap onto the ACOG.
