Aimpoint claims the Micro is just a sturdy as their regular sights.  If that's so, aside from NV, why would anyone buy an Aimpoint other than the Micro?

The Micro sits too low to clear the FSB on an standard flattop for example. The M4 is waterproof to a greater depth and the battery life is a lot longer. That's why the Army chose the new COMP M4 as their new CCO.

Agreed, the Micro sits low, but a simple riser or the new Larue mount will fix that.  I have mine on a 1/2 inch riser and its perfect.  I will switch it out when the Larue comes out.

immersion rating is 80ft for the Micro , 150 for the M4.

Battery for the Micro is about 7500 hr (10 months at setting 10 of 12)  No similar rating for the M4 but prob about 50,000hr

I would think that not many people or soldiers would need to submerse more then 80 ft?   Or, for that matter, anywhere near 80 ft.

While batter life difference is substantial, I would assume that most people (soldiers too) would replace the battery well before its due.  10 months continuous would translate to 30 months or so it used only 8 hours a day.

With those differences, is the extra weight worth it?  Opinions please.

The M4's battery endurance is closer to 150,000 hrs. If I could afford it, I would still get both, Aimpoint has very well engineered products.

The 150,000 rating is only for the low setting--i think NV actually.  I know with the M3, its rated at 50,000 and a rep told me 30,000 for the higher settings.  The M4 is rated for 80,000 so I assumed 50,000 for the higher settings

The price for an M4 is ridiculous when stats are compared with the M3.

A quantum leap in price to address a "battery life issue" that didn't exist.

There are some minor differences, but paying about SEVEN HUNDRED BUCKS for an M4, considering how remarkably close its stats are with the M3, is a fools game IMO.

$700+ for an M4? I wouldn't buy it for anywhere close to that price...it's not all that different than the M3 and the VAST majority of people here wouldn't even come close to putting an M3 through its paces.

Anyone care to explain how the M4 justifies such a HUGE price increase? And please spare me the battery life issue. It is NOT an issue.

"I have mine"?  No kidding?  How did you get one?

Also, the battery life on Micro is 50,000 hours on power level 7.

The M2 is fine.  I paid $300 for it new in box, and I paid $65 for the mount it sits in and it HOLDS ZERO AND DOES NOT MOVE.
