Hey guys, I'm still new to the forum and have a question.  I have a cheap Bushnell red dot(yes, I know).  When I took the carry handle off my Bushy and mounted the red dot to the rifle, the dot was right on the front sight.  I decided to pick up a riser to bring the height of the red dot up.  I like the way the sight sits now, but have a question.  Numerous people have told me I don't need the riser.  So I was wondering if the sight was mounted incorrectly that people said I shouldn't need the riser.  I'd like to remove the riser if possible to reduce weight and improve the looks of the rifle if it isn't needed.

Looking through the sight using the riser.

Looking through the sight w/out the riser.

Here is a picture for reference of the way it is mounted with the riser.

I plan to get an aimpoint of acog at some point down the road, I just wanted to move from the iron sights right away.
