| Hi my dad has a Rock River Arms AR-15 with just iron sights. He wants to get another one with a real good scope. I was wondering. Should he get an Aimpoint, ACOG, or Eotech scope? Any suggestions would be much appreciated. |
| You need to address the distances your targets will be and work backwards from that. At our 3-gun matches, the fartherest target is a 4 inch clay at 100 yrds. Some guys use 4x scopes, some open sights, and some eotechs. The rest of the targets are IDPA cardboard and are no farther than 20yrds. The eotechs rule at these distances, especially if you are moving while engageing targets. I guess you need to decide what you are going to shoot, how far,static or dynamic, I hope this helps. pg |
