Hey guys, Long time stalker, first time poster. I'm getting into longer range shooting and have been looking intensely at the Horus Vision System. My friend has one and I've used his once before. I love the scope, but here's the problem. I'm hard on things. The only options (it seems anyway) is to go for a USO with the H-25 or go for a Falcon 1000 Horus/Hakko scope. I don't have the 2300+ dollars to drop on a USO and i'm a bit skeptical about the Hours/Hakko scopes. Leupold no longer installs the reticle in their scopes either. OK so now that you are all sick of reading here are my questions. Does anyone have any experience with the Horus/Hakko scopes? Are they rugged? Thanks for your help guys. Love the site. -Levi Oliver |
I don't have any rugged data....but I have hit my LaRue target 3 out of 5 times at 1,250 yards on a windy day with a .308 Lapua match round. Wind was a 100% 15 knots and IIRC, I was holding 19 mil dots high and 5 mil dots into the wind. The steel LaRue target is about 12" x 24". I was on the Red River in north Texas....my bullet was shot over into Oklahoma and then it blew back into Texas. Some say the .308 is going backwards at that range, but if it is, it sure is a consistant backwards. M. LaRue |
I never shot the Falcon, but I do have the 1x4 Talon and I really like the Horus concept. I feel that they are pretty rugged, but I'm not going to use it to hammer something down to find out how rugged they are. Basically the way they are designed is you zero the scope and you just use the reticle for holdovers and you never have to mess with the turrets again. The Super falcon is made of steel so I would think it is even tougher. |
