And while I'm at it, any updates on a variable SS?

Subject says it.  Anyone ever compared the two?  I'm sitting here with a couple of my variables looking out the window, and I can't decide.  Both seem very clear to me, at 10x and 16x, and 16x doesn't really offer THAT much less FOV, but then again, 10x seems brighter, and I'm not trying to aquire a moving target where a huge FOV would be nice.  At the same time, at 16x I think I could peg the little shims on the tops of the telephone poles, while at 10x they're pretty small.

Man, I dunno.

What do you guys think?  This would be primarily for <500m shooting of milk jugs and balloons, with the occassional trip to the 1000 yard range when I'm feeling lucky (and can find 36" square steel targets! )

Thanks for any thoughts on this.

I used my SS 10x42 at 1000 yards ringing a 6' diameter iron gong with success.

10x is totally acceptable for 1000yards.
