I purchased a stag arms lower and upper and assembled it yesterday. I tried to sight in the open sights today but with the front sight pin unscrewed as far as it will go and the rear sight pushed all the way to the front of the rail, it is still shooting about 4-5 inches high......my rear sight is a pop up style sight with 2 different size aperatures and is only adjustable for windage.....what can i do to solve this problem? Oh and i was shooting from 50 yards Thanks. |

Use the small arperture and what kind of BUIS?and are you lollypoping the sight picture...works great on a traditional full size rifle but with a carbine I notice if you line up the front post halfway up in the rear pepe and put the post cuting that target circle in half instaed of resting the target circle on the post"like a lolypop"that will help you. I use a raer BUIS that mimicks the removable handle just cut down so I can still use the flat top but have the same zero as when my removable handle is attached.I use the 50 yd battle zero wich requires the rear sight raised to clicks up from being bottomed out so I need an adjustable rear. Bushmaster doesnt make Stag arms I think CMT does. |
Yeah i didn't think bushmaster made stag but i don't know anything about ar's and this is my first....also what is a buis? the rear sight i have is arms 40#A i bought the complete upper and complete lower so i didn't do anything to it but connect the upper and lower. I was putting the front post right below the target and centering it in the rear aperature......i'm gonna try to order a extended front post but i'm not sure if that will do the trick. Please post any other tricks.....Thanks. |
Back Up Iron Sight. That's what your ARMS 40 is. It's a backup sight if case your optics fail. You fold it down until you need it. If you have the proper sight alignment and you're still shooting high after you've maxed out the adjustment a taller front sight post will do the trick. I mentioned bushmaster in the earlier post because they also carry the taller post. Sorry if I confused you. Good luck. ETA: Seems like you're not the only one have this problem with a Stag upper. ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=18&t=311257 BTW, it's not an uncommon problem. It's an issue with other manufacturers too. I had to add the taller post to my Bushy. Don't worry too much about it. Shoot and enjoy. |
