Does anyone know which model has been in circulation within our military? I'm thinking of picking one up for my AR-10.

I keep seeing the battery powered models in the sandbox. I have the older, tritium powered type that the Canadians use as the C7. The battery powered type has a switch  on the side. BSW

As said before the M145 MGO (Machine Gun Optic) is used for the M249 SAW and M240B machine gun in the Army.  I do not know the exact model number its just always been M145 since I came in contact with it but I will say that it requires one of the M68 batteries to run the illumination option.  I personally along with others in my unit do not like them and consider them a POS for their tendency to either break through the abuse that is put on our equipment from training or actual use down range or the illumination fails and in my experience this is always the first problem to be encountered.
