i have a 552 and was thinking of getting a 553 for a new ar. i have the larue buis. how is the arms mount on the 553? keep it , get the 552 with larue mount or get 553 and swap arms for larue mount?

i like the 553 the way it is, it is a definate improvement over the 552

What are the differences between the 553 and 552 besides a lot of money?

just a few I can remember: uses 123 batteries, built-in, twin lever ARMS mount, slightly raised height (by .25"), shorter length, different windage / elevation adjustments, tethered battery compartment, I think battery life is different too.

so would the better choice be 552 and larue mount for around 500 bucks or 553 for around 580.00?

I would lean more towards the 553, i like the cr123 batteries, makes for a rifle that shares the same batteried with the optics, laser, and lights....
