| I'm completely lost whenit comes to scopes. First what is a side parralux adjustment. What is the advantage to this. Also the numbers on a scope like 6-24x44 I know the first two are powers but what is the 44 is that the diameter of the big part of the tube thanks |

There's a good explanation of parallax and parallax adjustment in this link. Side parallax adjustment just means that the place the parallax adjusting control is on the side of the scope. You're right about the last number of a scope description - that is the diameter of the objective lens (the large lens on the end of the scope, opposite the end you look into).
