I see many rifles with A3 uppers that have magnified optics mounted on top, and they also have the original AR type front sight. I know that many of you setup your aimpoints, acogs, and eotechs to cowitness the front sight post. But what about magnified optics....it seems like the front sight is so high that it would obstruct the FOV of the scope. Is that not a problem? I am thinking of getting a 20" A3 Bushmaster and adding a scope. Thanks!

No, at least not if the scope is 4x or greater. With 3x scopes you can sometimes see a 'shadow' of the front sight at worse.

Along the lines as that of the original post, Does the position front to rear affect the zeroing of the scope setup. Say for instance I mount my scope with the notches showing at the front, and decide to move it further back, will my zero be off?

Yes, it will be off, usually not by much but it will be off.
