I have a rock river 16" flat top upper with an ARMS #40 mounted I was zeroing at 25 yards.  When I had the aperature centered in the arms 40 sight I was consistanly shooting groups 4-5 inches to the left.  I had to max out the aperature all the way to the right in order for the groups to start touching the bullseye.  I have never had any experience with the arms 40 sight but I don't think this should be the case, especially at 25 yards.  My friend who also shot the rifle was having the same results.  Is this normal or acceptable for a buis?  If it is does anyone have any suggestions for a buis that I can get on target and still have room for possible adjustments? Possibly a fixed one?

Have you tried zeroing the rifle with another rear sight (carry handle, etc.)?

not normal

if you have a spare BUIS, or carry handle, try those before anything else.

if this problem doesn't occur with the above, then the problem is with the ARMS.

if the problem persists, yuo may have: a canted FSB, or over torqued barrel or flashider.

Thanks I'm gonna try another BUIS. I didn't have it with me at the range.  But I will next time I go.  If the FSB is canted will that be a major fix?

Interesting...I didn't get a response from my initial question about this very subject. I thought it was taboo or something...

Anyways, my ARMS BUIS mounted with a severe cant on my RRA upper. No issues with a DPMS or a LMT BUIS, nor with my eotech...

Sent the ARMS back with my complaint. It was replaced no charge...

The replacement mounts correctly.

Regards....

thanks. looking at it it does look a little canted but i really can't tell for sure. Hopefully thats what it is and I don't have to get the fsb fixed.  I'm gonna try my friends larue buis so I will see shortly.

How old is your RRA upper? Several years ago RRA put out a batch of uppers that were out of spec.

The ARMS could be canted. (Troy had a bad batch once too.)
The FSB could be canted.
The upper could be out of spec.

If its a newer rifle then it will probably be the ARMS or the FSB.

Do you have anything inpinging on your barrel (ex. a light mounted to the barrel itself).  This could disturb the harmonics of the barrel throwing off your shots.

This Upper is brand new. And I don't have anything attached to the barrel.  I really do hope it's the sight itself.

Tag, my ARMS40L does the same, al the way adjusted to the right.
I suspect it's my FSB

I have a S&W M&P15 that I put an arms 40L on. I had to almost max it out to the right also.

No, I haven't checked to see if it's my FSB or my ARMS, I don't have another sight or carry handle to try it.

I have an ARMS 40L on an Armalite. After much measuring and dinkin' around I discovered that it probably is the 40L (and not the receiver rail). It cants when you tighten the clamp. I shimmed it and reset the aperture to center. Went to the range and started shooting some 50 yard bulls-eyes with the aperture only a couple clicks off center.

I haven't decided if I'm going to contact ARMS or just call it good. hinking.gif
