I have seen several pictures of ACOG scopes with a Docter Optic red dot mounted on top.
Is anyone using this type of setup?

My question is this: How do you get a cheek weld with the red dot mounted so high? I mean, there can't be any way to shoot nose-to-charging-handle and still be able to line up that DR. sight can there?

Enlighten me.

You don't get/need a cheek weld to use them. I have a LMT SOPMOD and just slide the stock down to where my cheek was and get a "chin weld". That type of sight does not need too much precision anyways, so nose to charging handle won't matter. It is purely a close in, back up.

chin weld is right.  I'll be using the BAC reticle for pretty much everything, the red dot on top is a backup.

how are y'all liking the DOC setup?

I've had a TA01NSN with an Optima 2000 on top since 2001 so I'm used to it.  As a backup sight it's awesome, but I wouldn't use it in CQB, it's a backup sight to me

is the doc optic only for acog or does ring fit 1" or 30mm scope?

Docter Optics does make traditional scopes, in addition to the miniature red dot sights

Thanks
The ARMS 19S mount moves back and forth a little, but as long as it's zeroed with the scope /mount pushed forward, no problems yet
