Hello All,
So I am at the point of things that I need to figure out what kind of sights are going on my flattop AR.  The end goal of the rifle is to be a scoped paper puncher, but right now it is in it's infancy.  I will have to do with irons for a while and need help selecting the right ones.  I will eventually need the BUIS (front and back) to fold, but I was thinking of going with the LMT rear sight with all the adjustability on it.  I was also thinking of going with a full set of Troy's or Samson as well.  So to the questions:

If you were choosing sights for a flattop, that you would have to shoot with for a while (though there will eventually be a scope), what would you go with?  Would you plan ahead and just live with a set of Troy fold up sights, since this is what you are going to end up with in the end (or something like them that will not interfere with a scope mount).  Or would you get a flip front, and then get something like the LMT rear mount since these will be your primary sights for a while?  The front sight will be on top of a LaRue 13.2" rail.   Does anybody even use the elevation adjustability on their carry handles?  If you don't think the elevation adjustability is a big deal, then I will just go with the folding back sight as well.

If you have questions, please let me know.

Thanks,
Boomer

Edit: The rifle in question will look much like some of the SPR's I've seen on the boards of late.  Many of the same parts and such.

What kind of an optic are you planning on running?  If it is something like an Aimpoint or Eotech, you won't need (you would probably rather not have) folding BUIS.  If you are going to run something magnified like an ACOG or traditional scope, you will want a folding rear (the front isn't necessary).

Ah oops.  Forgot to mention.  I am sticking a traditional scope, probably a SuperSniper, or maybe Redfield, onto the rifle eventually.  I understand of course that the BUIS would be for back up, but I think I still need all of them right (front, rear)?

In that case, you will want a folding rear and your front will not necessarily need to be folding.
