Ok guys... I'm fairly new to optics and I'm looking for some advice on which scope I should buy..

I am looking for something around a 4-12x40 or 4-16x40.... anything in that range.
I want to be able to shoot from 100-300yrds and I want a decent scope with good eye relief... however I dont want to pay a fortune.

I understand that you get what you pay for... I am looking for the best "bang" for the buck in the $200-300 dollar range.

One scope I was considering is...

What do you experts think?  What would you recommend to me for a scope?

Hi Azlum and welcome to the AR15.com

What about something like this?

We have a few NEW in the box Simmons 44Mag 6.5-20x44mm Riflescpes, w/AO & TT (801048).  Simmons is discounting this model replacing the 44m with another Model.
Was $175.37 but now save $79.37 =  $96.00.
(Not on the website yet.)

The mount shown is a PM067 and they work well for an AR15 if you are looking for a budget mount.

ETA:  What is a good scope in the 3-10x/40 range and priced lower than $400?

This is too much scope in my opinion!  You should be looking at something else.  A 4-16x and up to much scope.

The Leupold you linked to is a good scope, but so is the Simmons that CSGW showed you. I'd go with Leupold only because I have used them before. You may want to look into a 4-9x scope. 4-12x and 4-16x are overpowered for the distances you are trying to achieve.

Leupold are great!

Here is a Leupold CQT:

Here is a Leupold 1.5-5x MR/T:

These Leupold are a little out of the price range but I think we could do something in a Leupold for the price range you are looking for.

For a 16” upper I really do not recommend going over a 6x scope.
