Im wanting to purchase a ACOG scope. Here is my mounting question. Im wanting to use it on my Flattop M4 carbine, Also I have a A2 I would like to mount it to and My M1A with a Arms #18 mount. IS there a Acog that will mount to all three platforms? Can a acog be purchased out the box to use on all three or am I looking at purchasing different mounts as well. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks

ACOGs will mount to either the carry handle of an AR or a flattop type mount.  They attach to a flattop mount in the same manner that they would attach to a carry handle...so yes the same ACOG could be used for all of your rifles...in theory.

I assume you realize that every time you change from a flattop mount to carry handle and back you will have to rezero.  You must also consider the recoil on your M1A before looking at any of the 4X ACOGs.  Eye relief is very short on the 4X.  The TA11 scopes have a long enough eye relief that using them on a .308 is no big deal so your choices may already be limited to the bigger TA11 if you are still wanting to use the same optic on all three rifles.

Good Luck

I'm sure you know this already, the M14 platform isn't nearly as good a platform for mounting optics, the stock needs a cheekpiece for a proper cheekweld, but once the cheekpiece is installed, its iron sights become unusable  An ACOG mounted on the M1A/M14 is going to be rather tall.
