Where can I actually purchase one of these things? Is it available anywhere?

What you may be referring to is an Aimpoint 3x magnifier. They work on Eotech's as well. There were a few on EE a few days ago . Most Aimpoint suppliers carry them. With mount you're looking at the $500-600 price range.

No, i think he's talking about the magnifiers that were supposed to come out with with the 553, but have vanished into vaporware land.

You are correct sir. I was really hoping to see them on the market by now but I haven't even heard or seen anything on it recently. I could always get the aimpoint but I really like the design of the EO. I wish someone from EO or a dealer would chime in with something on these magnifiers.

I've posted this before but here is the reply I got from Dennis Finnegan when I recently asked about the status of the magniers.

"The magnifier is again back to the perverbial drawing board. They have changed a couple things to meet both military specs and to meet the needs of our customers. We are releasing two versions. One will be the complete system, which includes the magnifier, mount and sight with BDC reticle. The other will simply be the magnifier and mounting interface sold to retrofit with existing holosights.

Both will be out by January (Shot Show).

I really like the last part! I have two 552 F EOTechs and I will putting a magnifier on at least one of them, maybe both if I really like it.

I haven't heard if the reticle will be changed. Maybe Dennis or ManX can chime in and give us something to chew on until SHOT 2007...

I saw it on the early prototypes and it looked nice. Basically with the Magnifier off it looked like it was just a red dot, and when you put the magnifier on, it had the BDC on it like the ACOG.

You mean like this?

I posted about this a while ago when I got the data sheet from EOTech.

What I meant to say is that I don't if the BDC dots were being changed. I believe the EOTech model that will come with the magnifier is suppesed to have the BDC. AFAIK, this hasn't changed but one never knows...

a little update on the magnifier...

The BDC reticle is still in the works, it might be offered.

The Magnifier will be released soon, it is an inexpensive civilian version with a possible build in mount.

The mil-spec magnifier will be released early next year, possibily during the Shot show. it also might include a design change to the 553 to accommdate the magnifier.

Basically toss the above picture out of the window, it will be somewhat or a lot different.

Chen,

WIll the Mil-Spec magnifier be able to be retrofitted to the older EOTechs or is that what the civilian grade magnifier is for?

I certainly hope the Mil-Spec magnifier will work with my 552 F...
