So I try to cut on my Eotech tonight and I get nothing.  Change the batteries and still nuttin'.

I bought this unit new in January of this year, and probably have only about 3,000 rounds through the rifle that it's mounted on.  Anyone had this happen before?

Looks like I'll be going to an Aimpoint in the near future.

Did you leave the batteries out of it for awhile? I had the same issue when I swapped batteries.

No, took the old ones out and popped the new ones in.

I reccomend pulling the batteries out and letting the tech sit for like 20 minutes, and then put the batteries back in, mine powered right up when I did that.

Um, word on the street is that method will also work if you let it sit for only a minute or so.

Thanks.

I'm an idiot.

for future ref. if you have any EOTech problems......as I just went through this myself, and mine did NOT come back on after "resetting" it by letting it set w/ out batts.  Send it back to EOTech which is now part of L3 communications...cant remember the guy's name right off hand...hes their customer serv. rep...they will either refurb. or send you a new unit.  just got mine back about a month ago....works like a charm.

Yeah, it runs on Windows.

The only time I had to "reboot" my Eotech was when I let the batteries die and tried to change them when the optic was still on. The beuty of the Eotech is the reticle will flash when you turn it on once the batteries are getting low. If you turn it on and see the reticle flash as long as you turn it of then and replace the batteries then you should not have to "reboot" the optic. The one thing I dont like is that there is no Lithium N batteries out there. I got the 551 because I liked the size but using alkiline batteries has a tendency to make the connections sticky from leaking batteries which causes a entirely different issue. I am happy with the Eotech site though and would not trade it for anything,...well maybe a 552 but thats it.

Never heard of rebooting an Eotech before, but I see it is somewhat common. It may be quick, it may be otherwise robust, but so much buying one of those things. My luck would be when I truely needed it the damn thing would need kick-started.
