I know JP Rifles sells rifles with an integral ACOG mount machined into the upper.  I have also seen photos on the web of a MAGA flattop upper with an ACOG mounted directly in a groove cut into the top.  Is there someone out there who can do this to an upper as custom work?  If so, about how much does it cost?

Heck, the TA51 mount is almost too low for me as it is... I don't know how people manage to get their heads low enough on a direct-to-receiver mount.

Why would you want to do that?  It will make it too low and negate the avaliable optic options of a flattop.   A LaRue mount is the best option out there period.

i agree with the two above me.

too low for comfortable use as is with the ta51 mount and larue is probably the best option.

That's just plain dumb.  Even dumber than buying the RRA flattop upper with the built in rear sights...

Do you actually mount the ACOG to the upper and then flip the upper over to install the screws from the inside?

Anything that NEEDS a dedicated magnified optic should have a picatinny rail ready for a higher power scope...

The ACOG "slot" in the receiver does not preclude the use of regular rail mounts in any way.  When I owned the JP CTR-02, I ran a regular ACOG mount and other mounts no problem.

People are built differently and lower mounting works better for some.  I know a couple guys who use the ACOG "slots".

Personally, I run the LaRue ACOG mounts.
