It looks like most people buy compact ACOGs with the M16 base and put them on a TA51 or Larue mount.  Does anyone here have experience with the special ring and adapters?  I'm thinking about putting a TA39-4 on one of my carbines using the MM09 (high flattop adapter).

I have a special ring model I use on a flattop. It works very well. The scope was very attractively priced used so I didn't compare purchasing a scope and mount.

The special ring flattop mount is not "trick", some might prefer a quick release mount.

Thanks for the reply subgunner!  I was starting to wonder if I would get any.

I have a flattop, too.  What height special ring adapter did you use?  The MM09 (high)?

Did you use the front adapter only?  Or did you use a special ring (MM06) and a special ring adapter at the rear, as well?

IIRC, the special ring version and special ring mounts are a little lighter than the M16 versions.

I am currently using the MM09 although the medium worked OK too. I purchased the scope with the medium height adaptor and used it for about a year. Ran into the MM09 for $10 so I switched and I find I like the additional height.

Thanks.  Sounds like you're only using the one MM adapter under the integral ring then?  You can also put a second MM adapter at the rear with the MM06 (top half) ring.
