With price not an issue, which one is better and why? It's not just as simple as 4" and 5" model right? I saw the battery difference and battery life..... is this upgrade a neccessity? Let me hear your opinions. Thanks in advance.

Better depends on your needs. Do you have enough space for the longer 512? Do you have ready access to the batteries for the 511?
I have plenty of rail space and almost everything else I use runs on AA batteries so the 512 is 'better' for me. YMMV.
