Several years ago I purchased a comp m from a dealer that I thought was a good deal. What I did not realize at the time was someone had started the battery cap on cross threaded. I contacted aimpoint and they basicaly said if they could repair it the cost would exceed the price of a new one. My question is does anyone know the thread size or is there any type of thread chaser or tap availabe to clean up the male threads on the housing or does anyone have any used caps I could try to use as a tap. Am I barking up the wrong tree or is there another perferred method for repairing this problem. I have to believe someone else has run into this problem and with the amount on knowledge on this board hopefully someone has an answer. I like the sight, its mounted on a colt cc carbine on a arms #29 a2 plus forward mt. and that dot sits directly on top of the fsp. The sight does work now and you can get the cap started straight without a battery in it but with the battery in it its a real chore to get the cap on. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks coltsonly |
