Just bought a used scope.  The last owner used electrical tape around the ends so his Butler Creek covers would fit.

I pulled the tape off, and of course there is sticky goo all over.

Tried alcohol, tried windex, tried simple green, tried grease lightning (whether I thought it would work or not I tried everything under the kitchen sink).  Gunk is still there.

Obviously I don't want to mar the tube in any way, or the glass if some solvent gets on it.

Any ideas?

Also, I mounted this scope on my AR, first time I have ever put together an scoped AR, and wow, between the eye relief, scope height, and charging handle, its not easy to make it all work!!!

Any adhesive remover will work, and you can find that stuff at hardware stores, paint stores, grocery stores, drug stores, and on and on.

Just be prepared to have to wipe on, wipe off a couple of times, but it will take it off.
