Just bought a used scope. The last owner used electrical tape around the ends so his Butler Creek covers would fit. I pulled the tape off, and of course there is sticky goo all over. Tried alcohol, tried windex, tried simple green, tried grease lightning (whether I thought it would work or not I tried everything under the kitchen sink). Gunk is still there. Obviously I don't want to mar the tube in any way, or the glass if some solvent gets on it. Any ideas? Also, I mounted this scope on my AR, first time I have ever put together an scoped AR, and wow, between the eye relief, scope height, and charging handle, its not easy to make it all work!!! |
