hey guys, im new to the site and to ar-15's. I just got a colt m4 and i love it. I have a really good scope just laying around and i wanted your advice on how i should mount the thing. its a bushnell 4200 elite 6-24x40. The rifles a flattop and i know that would be the best way to mount it. However the front sight would be in the way. Also i absolutely need iron sights to practice with. I dont know what to do. i was thinking about this... http://www.mountsplus.com/miva/merchant.mvc?page=MSP/PROD/10_CARRY_HANDLE_MOUNT/39 It seems like the most stable carry handle mount, it says its for an m-16 though, will it work on my m4 A2 also? |

Welcome! The only way you can mount your scope and use the irons is to remove the scope every time you wish to use the irons. The mount you are looking at is more for an A2 than an A3 (flat top) and is intended more for mounting a reflex style sight on the front portion of rail to co-witness through. It will however fit on your gun if you use the detachable carry handle.I would consider what you plan on doing with your gun and decide if you really want it scoped or un-scoped. The other draw back to that type of mount is it will put your scope high above the bore and will have less adjustment to zero for shorter distances. If you plan to still scope your gun I would recomend a Larue mount for it. I made your previous link hot so others may comment on it as well.Mounts Plus. |
| Thanks alot for the help guys. Got a couple follow up questions if thats okay... So if i mount on the carry handle my zero is going to change rapidly as my distance changes, but If i got a smaller scope to mount on the flat top would there be a way to use both the scope and irons without this problem? |
