I am having trouble keeping my rear LMT BUIS from falling off my flat top Bushy AR with LMT upper.  Anybody know a good fix.  I posted this at Park Cities Tactical and got the following reply.  Anyone know who is making that part?  Thanks.

Try using some loc tite on the threads!

Make sure it is seated properly
Use loc-tite.
Tighten the crap out of it with a quarter and a pair of pliers.

If you don't use loc-tite, any rear sight can be expected to fall off.

+1

Loctite and a large washer to apply torque to the thumb nut. A pair of Visegrips holding the washer helps too.

I'm starting to think I am missing a part.  I am no stranger to loctite.  But the sight grips on to and over the rail on the ejection port side but just sits on the rail with only the tightening nut to hold it on.  I crank it but can still twist it off with my hand.  Plus, the post inside comes up so high I can't get a quarter in to tighten it down.  Is there a washer or other piece that is supposed to go between the tightening knob and the rail?

Does it have the foot of the clamp installed?

It sounds like your missing the rail clamp portion that sits under the thumb nut.

Yup!  I don't have that clamp piece between the sight and the thumb screw.  Now I know why I can't keep the thing on and the lack of space being taken up by it causes the center post to protrude into the slot for tightening the whole sight down.  Looks like I have some parts ordering to do.  Thanks very much to all.  Mystery solved.

Did you order it new? If so I'd be making some calls Tuesday!

Yes, I did.  I had the whole rifle reworked by a friend who put the sight on for me.  Guess it either didn't come or it ended up in an "extra parts" bucket.  I'll give him a ring this morning and then order it on Tuesday.  Thanks again for the help.

I contacted LMT.  They were great to deal with.  Apparently the part just broke off.  Had a new one in a few day's time.
