I read an article in the latest Guns magazine about Talbot QD mounts.  Seemed pretty impressive.  Has anyone used them before?

thx.

True, but the return to zero was VERY impressive.  I'm trying to figure if you keep the base mounted and then just switch out optics (with attached Talbot mount...?  That would be a sweet setup for my 18" fluted jack-of-all-trades upper.

Leupy 1.5-5

Leupy 3.5-10

Eotech

All mounted and return to zero in seconds...

What's are other alternatives?  Links??

Why, LaRue of course.
You can buy LaRue products from many of the fine dealers here, MSTN, G&R Tactical, Global Tactical, etc.
I like ARMS mounts too, but LaRue has adjustable lever nuts and cool lockable levers.  Can't say I have much use for the lockable levers, but the adjustable nuts for the lever are great.  One of my ARMS 19S ACOG mounts is loose on all of my receivers, if it were adjustable it'd still be in use

I have taken the optic from my Remy 700 and use it on an AR10, but then both of these platforms already have Pic rails, and the optic (USO SN3) has ARMS QD rings.
Can something that requires a screw driver to mount be called QD?  You'll have to drop some loctite on the screws lest they come loose under recoil.  No such concerns with ARMS and LaRue QD rings or mounts.

Several years ago, I was at a gun show where the Fort Benning Sniper School was represented.  They had an AR10-type rifle on display as well as a bolt-action.  They were using Talbot QD mounts on both rifles.  The gentleman who was manning the booth (said he was the head instructor) told me all about how he had found this little dealer who made these great mounts.  He said the best part was that you could swap the scope from the AR to the Remmy with a flick of the QD and a quick re-zero.  He proved his point, and I was impressed to say the least.

He wrote down the name and number for me to place an order.  Back then, they didn't even have a website.  Heck, I don't even know if Bill Klinton and Al Gore had invented the internet yet.  Of course, back then, I also couldn't afford $200 for a scope, let alone a mount, so I never ordered.

These have been around a LONG time, and they were the first QD mount I'd ever seen that was really QD, but I don't know that they are any better than LaRue.  They are definitely DIFFERENT, that's for sure.

Before the advent of the almost ubiquitous Picatinny rails and mounts, that was a revolutionary idea, but now even pistols have rails on the bottom, let alone SAWs, GPMG, individual weapons, etc., doesn't this largely mitigate the benefits of these mounts?
