I read the thread from Greywolf about the Mueller scopes and was intrigued. I checked out their website and became even more interested as I am looking for a good, inexpensive 3x9 for my A3 20"hbar. Has anyone here actually used the Mueller scopes? Any feedback?

I posted a similar question about a year ago, with very limited response.  The folks who have them all seem to like them a lot, but I don't think I got more than 4 replies.

All the information I can find says that the company pays people to post positive reviews on forums.  I've seen some of the "reviews" and they certainly do read more like a sales pitch than an honest review. I'd be warry.

There are a couple more, let me see if I can find them.  Also, do a search online for Mueller Scope Review.  You'll find identical "reviews" from "different" people on different forums.

OK, now that's just stupid.

Granted, some of the reviews sound like a cheap ad agency came up with them, but why in the hell would anyone PAY another person to vouch for them on such an ANONYMOUS medium as the world wide web?  If anything underhanded were to take place, Mueller could just spend a week joining all the web forums themselves, posting a few non-related replies here and there to build up their post count, then chime in about this "great new scope I bought that's better than my Leupold"...  And it wouldn't cost them a DIME.

I own a Mueller Tac II scope.

All that I can say is that they are worth far more than what you pay.  Very comparable to scopes costing more than twice as much.  Great people to deal with also.

Buy with confidence.

I have never heard anyone say that Mueller is paying people for postive feedback.  The people that do have them seem to be very happy with them.

Keef, thank you for posting your sources.  However, most of the Mueller bashing seems to be in the form of complaints about a couple folks posting nice reviews (valid ones or not I don't know).  In your first link, there was nothing substantial against the scope itself.  I have not taken the time to try reading any of the other links yet.  The complaints strike me as very similar to the FAKACOG bashing that goes on here.  (edited to add:  Your links #2-4 are all a copy of the same review by the same guy.  Haven't you ever posted a comment or review on multiple sites before?  I see nothing sinister or unethical here.)

That said, I received a Mueller 3-9x40 IGR scope today.  Good eye relief, glass is nice and clear, red dot is visible in bright conditions  on #9-11.  Magnification ring turns smoothly without any grinding.  Reticle adjustment has nice audible & tactile 'click' and sounds like all-metal parts.  Turrets turn without tools.

I haven't mounted it yet as the rings I got are just a tad bit too low to clear my #40 BUIS on  the AR, so I cannot tell you if the scope holds zero or not.  When I get the right rings, and get the scope mounted, and get to the range...I'll let y'all know if it works or not.  But for the moment, I am pleased with the purchase.

That was graywolf from right here on AR15.com. he was the one that started talking to CUZ (Mueller) about starting this projekt. He is not a company rep. Do your fucking homework, jr. before you start crying foul.

CUZ, Im looking forward to the latest scope projekt. Its going on my Ruger 10/22.

To get back on subject, I have a Mueller 4-16x Tactical. Nice scope. I use it regularly for 300 yard target shooting.

Nice clear glass, good features, and bright enough reticle for daytime use.

I got the chance to handle a Mueller 3x9x40 with the German #4 reticle with the illuminated dot.  I was pretty danged impressed.  Very clear glass, wonderful reticle, really like the illuminated dot, (should be really great for low light shooting).

Of course now I just have to find a danged mount so I can put one of those up top of my FAL and see how it does.

I have a Mueller 3x9x40 on my RRA and use it for hunting and shooting and absolutely love it.  The illuminated dot on the reticle is great, especially for low light shooting.  As someone mentioned above, the scope is worth way more then you pay for them.  I would have no reservations about buying an additional one in the future.

+1000  I have a mueller on my T/C Encore .308.  I like it better than my nikon and almost as my USMC SA ART IV.  The optics are amazingly clear and bright.  It is easily the best buy for the money available.  I have recommended them to several people who were skeptical.  Once they used mine, they have become believers and have purchased.

I just got my Mueller 3x10x44 a couple of days ago.  I am very impressed with the clarity/sharpness of the image through it.  The fast focus eye piece works great.  Since I wear glasses, the quick focus feature is something I really like.

I will hopefully get some range time this weekend with it, but so far, I'm quite happy.

I just hope the don't start raising prices too much/too soon...it's nice to have a low cost/high quality scope option.

Okay, where's my check, beyotches?

They are manufactured in China or Japan and seem to have some good reviews on some other boards where there is more interest in less expensive scopes like rimfirecentral and greybeard . There is generally less interest in low end scopes on arfkom. Most people here will recommend that you spend the money on a Leupold or something similar. Maybe Mueller is the holy grail of inexpensive chinese/japanese/whereever scopes, but after having had crappy bsas, tascos, hakkos etc I am more conservative in buying scopes these days. SWFA has a used scope board. Also the Bushnell 3200 scopes are fairly inexpensive.

I have a 4-16 X 50 with the illuminated reticle and I love it.  Excellent clarity, very well made and for the price you can not find a better optic IMO.

If you can settle for a two piece mount, I think Warne QD rings are a great deal.

+1 on Mueller. I have a 2-7X32 "Multi-Shot" and its a great scope for the money. It replaced an older Leupold 2-7 Vari-X and there is no comparison, the Mueller is brighter and clearer and no, I am not getting paid to say this.

My Sportdot is fine on my AR.  I don't anticipate any trouble with it.  It sighted in easily enough.  The real test will come with my hubby's FAL and a Sportdot that he is ordering next week.

iirc, the lenses are Japanese, the coatings are German.  Either way, the glass is outstanding.

+1 for Mueller optics.
I have (2) 8-25x54 tactical models w/mildot. One is mounted on my 6.8SPC SPR, and the other on my BM Super Varminter. One mounted with 1pc Armalite QD mount and the other w/Leupold QRW rings.

I am VERY happy with the quality of the product, very comparable to products of double the price. I have shot out 300 yds with repeat zero on both models after removal of the mounts and replacement. They both handle the recoil well, very clear, easily adjustable, posititve click adjustments, lots of room for adjustment on the MOA turns (IE.. out to 800+yds possible w/o 20MOA base), great reticle, quality finish. The ONLY drawback on my models are the eye relief, for me, there seems to be a sweet spot you have to find to rid circling and full focus. This may be something with the high magnificaation series, or maybe it's just me.

All in all, I am very happy with the product and DO recommend them others interested in a decently priced quality optic!

PS, No funds were received for the review here!!

+1 for Mueller.  I have a 3x9 sport dot for 149, easily a 3-4 hundred dollar scope.  Even got a free hat with it!  Got a mount with it also, works like a charm, I love it.  Now I only wish I could get paid by Mueller to say that!  lol

BTW Cuz, my mailing address changed, so call me when you're ready to send the check

i have an eraticator (8.5x25-50mm AO, IR) on a 24" armalite.  i am impressed with the clarity and the overall fit and quality for the $185 i bought it for.  it sure beats spending as much as the gun costs for a good scope.  the recticle is perfect for target/varmit duties.

Well, I'll be a (relatively) lone voice of dissension here... I got one of the 8.5-25x44mm models that they came out w/ a little while back... dark and some serious fish bowl action going on.  Probably really should have sent it back pronto, but never have.   Probably can't by this point in time.  I figured I'll probably keep it as a backup (sort of) for one of the .22LR's or .17's for varminting... it's usually bright enough out in the varmint fields that it wouldn't be too bad.

YMMV,

Ditto on the Eraticator.  Mine sits on a Rem. 700 Heavy Varmint 22-250.   Thinking about getting one for my Varminter as well.  Excellent bang for the buck.
