[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Night Vision options?

I have been looking a little into night vision scopes. . . . so dang expensive!

I would like someone to point me in a direction to look for an inexpensive model 2-300 bucks???that I will be able to mount atop my A2.

I imagine 100 yards is plenty, will 1st gen work for something like that?

Does it have to have an IR light with it? Should come already attached correct?

Any info on pricing and brands to look into or avoid would be most appreciated.

My 30 day search turned up two threads which I read.

I believe the minimum you want is Gen II. There are no cheap/good NV set-ups.

if u can live with a hand held unit that is gen 1, but is as clear as a gen 3 look into nightview by weaver optics i have heard good things just ordered mine from midway usa for 200 nght owl also makes some decent night vision

Don't waste your money unless you will buy Gen II or Gen III. Honestly, it's not worth getting unless you take the plunge and spend close to three grand.

Hahaha guess you never looked thru a Gen 3. Gen 1 is no where even close to Gen 3.
