anybody try one of these , looking for what to expect from this item

If you get it you have a $60 optic.  Generally, you get what you pay for with optics.   There are some good inexpensive optics out there, there are also some bad expensive optics.  If you want a good optic for plinking I would suggest staying with a known brand like Nikon, Tasco or Burris to name a few.  If you are looking for something that your life may depend on stay with Trijicon, Aimpoint, EOTech or other quality optic (some recent tests would also put the SPOT and Burris XTS-135 in this group too).  I would suggest staying away any optic that does not have a brand advertised.
