OK I know my carry handle mount is crap, I KNOW IT. Now that we got that out of the way, where should I mount my scope and where can I get an affordable mount.

If I remove my carry handle could I mount a scope on the indentations that are on the flattop? Please help me out guys.

Yes, remove the carry handle and you can mount a scope there. Armalite sells a good mount, I think it's about $ 80. Quantico Arms usually has them. Rock River has a less expensive mount that looks similar, but I have not seen one in person.

These mounts will not return to the same zero if you remove them, but if you are going to leave the scope on they are fine.

There are more expensive scope mounts that should return to zero, like LaRue and ARMS, or at least pretty close to the original zero.

Thanks Aimless for replying. I tried just attaching my rings directly to the flat top. Is that possible. It looked like it would work but gave me a little trouble.

Depends on the kind of rings.

I checked out the one on the Armalite site and it looks good. $89 bucks is not to shabby. Now I need to put in the OT at work and then make it mine.

If it's a leapers intened to go on an AR it will probably work.

There are different types of rails, the military, which is STANAG something or other, and weaver rails (I am sure someone will correct me on this).

Thanks for not making fun of my cheap equipment. Mortgage, Diapers, and other associated bills makes it hard to buy the good stuff.

I am going to try installing it again on the flat top.

Honestly I think you'll end up being happier with the carry handle on there. Cheap scopes are more frustrating than fun. Most of my ARs don't have any optics on them.

I threw out another cheap scope myself last night. It was actually a Springfield Armory that I paid $ 200 for, but it was junk. I've tossed several Tapcos and BSAs.

One mans junk is another mans TREASURE. Don't be so hasty next time when throwing away your stuff. At least put it up on the EE. Thanks man for all your help.

Do you think it will keep its zero on the carry handle at all. I am having a time setting it at home by hand. I have seperated the lower and upper and am trying to bore sight it by looking through the barrell and setting the crosshair on the scope to what I see through the barrell.

If you have anymore info for me I would be very thankfull.

Honestly I have never owned a Leaper's scope, without seeing it I would only be guessing about mounting it. Sorry.
