I have been trying to figure out what scope to buy for my new M4A3 Bushy.   I know everyone likes the ACOGS.   I have a question, it seems that a common problem is that the fiber optic cracks.  Is this due to use, temp, etc?  How does this affect the scope?   To me a $800 plus tactical scope should be able to handle some abuse.  What model do you guys recommend?  Thanks in advance for the help.

I have a TA11F and my 'reticle' hasn't cracked.  I think you're referring to the fiber optic tube that goes across the top of the scope that appears to look cracked after a great deal of outdoor exposure, and I mean A GREAT DEAL.  As far as I've heard from those who've had this come up on their scopes, it has never been a problem, nor does it affect the performance of the scope.  It's just a cosmetic issue not much different from any firearm part showing signs of wear for exposure to extreme temps or sunlight.  And if I'm not mistaken, Trijicon will gladly replace any defective parts on your scope within a reasonable amount of time of ownership.  It's nothing worth worrying about.

the firber optic rod itself does not crack, the protective tube gets the cracks but in no way does it hinder the performance of the optic.

think trijicon stated somewhere that there is a different tube they can use but its hazy.

eklikwhoa You are very correct!

The TA31F is really popular for the 14.5” to 16” AR’s.  I love the ACOGS.

I have  a TA11F on a midlength dissy, no cracks in the fiber optic and an awesome scope.  I highly recommend this model over the smaller ones due to the increased eye releif,  it's worth the extra weight.

ANOTHER SHORTY WITH AN ACOG ON IT! I LOVE IT.

FULL SIZE ACOGS ARE I THINK THE WAY TO GO. BETTER LIGHT GATHERING ABILITY AND FIELD OF VIEW.

THIS IS A CUSTOMER'S UPPER WITH MY TA-11B IN LARUE MOUNT:

WES, Where can I get one of those flip down covers for the TA11F?  Do they make anything like that for the eyepiece too?

WE HAVE THEM, MACHINED FROM BILLET ALUMINUM. $80 PLUS $10 FEDEX AIR.

THEY DO NOT MAKE ONE FOR THE REAR.

ONE FOR THE TA-31 IS IN WORK.
