I just ordered an  Aimpoint M3 and was wondering about the killflash.  If anybody who has experience with one can tell me if it distorts you view through the recticle or is it invisible to the user?

For me it is barely noticeable when concetrating on the dot. When I'm trying to use irons through the sight, it can make it a bit more difficult to get a very clean image of the front sight post.

It is invisible 98% of the time but it will darken the lense more than you may initially expect.

I found myself turning the intensity up a few more clicks than usualy when shooting at dusk.

The only reason you see it in this pic is because the camera focused on it.

I really like it.

EDIT: My pic fu is weak tonight. Took me 3 tries

As the others have said, it does dim the image. If nothing else, the Killflash will help protect the objective lens from crud and such.

it also traps mud in there... clogs the honey-comb up

i had one and didn't like it that much, took it off and eventually took my aimpoint off and put a scope on.

if you want my killflash i'll sell it to you real cheap.

ETA: water is a real PITA too, even light rain

I had the same problem with the mud, blowing snow will build up on it quickly also.

I did not realize the elements had such an effect on it.  I think I'm going to hold off on buying one till I get to play with my M3 thats on backorder first.

You'll have to try and it find if it meets your requirements.  I tried it and did not like it - mainly due the decrease in optical clarity.  Some may argue this point, but that's what I picked up.
