I am considering upgrading my current scope on my AR-15. I currently have just a cheap Bushnell scope on it. The scope was mounted by the previous owner so I have never done it before. What all is involved in mounting a scope? I have zeroed scopes before, but I know nothing about boresighting or such. Also, any general tips in choosing a scope? I mainly plan on shooting targets at around 100-150 yards, but it could eventually be used for more. Right now, I am just looking for a mainly target shooting one. |

Here is what I do at home.... Mount the scope and remove the upper. Remove the bolt and lay the upper right side up on a table looking out a window or if you are outside already find a spot that looks to be 100 yards away. Look down the bore and pick a spot. now adjust your scope to that spot without moving the upper. Keep going back and forth checking to making sure the bore is pointing at that spot and adjust your scope till you are just about at that spot. now when you go to the range you will be on paper at 100 yards. I have done this many times and everytime I'm on paper with the frist shot. Should only take you a few more rounds to get dead center. |
