Hey guys,

I was having an internal debate about the 3 different LaRue AimPoint mounts.  Can an experienced user chime in with his/her experience about these mounts?

Regarding the LaRue RASII Low  Mount, Standard Mount and Cantilever Mount:

1) What's the height over bore for each of these three?
2) Will the low mount prevent me from flipping the AimPoint caps downward instead of popping up?

Looking forward to hearing your input. Thanks again.

I have the RASII on my flattop and I can't fold the front flap down it has to go up.  The aimpoint is basically right in the middle of the irons, maybe even a little low I wouldn't suggest it on a flattop with a fixed front sight it probably won't work very well.  I don't have any experience with the other mounts.

The Low mount isn't the same as the other two Aimpoint mounts.  It won't work unless it is used in conjuction with a raise rail such as a RASII bridge or GG&G FIRE rail.

The other two are for mounting directly to the upper reciever rail.

Actually, there are four if you count the new/redesigned one.

The standard mount for mounting directly on a flat-top.
The new redesigned mount for mounting directly on a flat-top.
The cantilever for mounting directly on a flat-top.
The mount for mounting on a RASII or other riser.

The new redesigned one pushes the aimpoint further forward, has a locking throw lever and a place for a spare battery.

The cantilever pushes the aimpoint out over the delta ring and has storage for a spare battery.

If you're not using a RASII you won't use that one. If you are, you probably don't want any of the others.

So how are you going to mount it? On a RASII? Or on a flat-top?

Lancelot,

The redesigned mount has replaced the original version completely.  The old version is not available.

Ahh. Well then there you go......

I suspect the old ones may show up on the EE someday.

If you think you are going to run NV or the Aimpoint 3X then stick with the Cantilever mount. If you have zero interest in those two items then stock with the standard mount. As Monty said, if you have a rail over your receiver rail (ARMS, GG&G, KAC, etc) then go with the RAS II mount.

@C4iGrant:

Which Larue Aimpoint mount will co-witness ("dot the i") with the iron sights on an M4 flat top upper?

I've been using an M2 since '02 with a single ARMS 22H throw lever and its gotten extremely loose (can't tighten it down enough to the flat top).  With this throw lever mount, it floats the red dot right above the front sight which I like.  Any suggestions?

All LT Standard and Cantilever mounts put your irons in the lower 1/3 of your Aimpoint window. The Cantilever mount is not available so your only choice is the standard mount.

Not available as in your out of stock or Larue stopped making them?  Also, any estimate on when you'll have them back in stock?

I am out of them and LT stopped making them as they are re-designing them.

Thanks for the heads up.  I knew they were redesigning the cantilever mounts, but was not aware of them stopping production on the previous design.

They stopped production some time ago on the older version.
