I see a number of pictures in magazines that show EOTechs on flatops with a front sight ppost. It is my understanding the front sight post will interfer with the front sight.  How and whay are they doing this?

What is the best method of raising the EOTwech wiithout adding a lot of weight.

Thanks,

The FSB will not block your EOTech's FOV. Some believe (this includes EOTech and myself) that it sits to low. There are two risers available and my choice would be the LaRue Tactical EOTech mount.

I have never understood the idea of the front sight post interfering with any optic but especially a 1X optic like the Aimpoint or EOtech.  Can someone explain where this idea comes from?

Where did you get this understanding?

If you are using your EOTech or Aimpoint properly with both eyes open while focusing on the target, not the reticle, then the front sight will ghost out and you will not even notice it.

As far as cowitness height goes it's basically a personal preference type of thing.  I have no problems using my EOTech off the receiver but other prefer the lower 1/3 cowitness.   Try each style out and go with the one that works best for you.

I'm just now starting to get more familiar with my rifle and I hate to be the dumb new guy but I need to get something cleared up.  Please talk to me like I'm 4 years old....have an Armalite A4 and I just took the carry handle off and put on an A.R.M.S. 40 rear sight and got talked into getting a Troy flip up front sight.  My next purchase will be an Eotech, and was told that the fixed sight that came stock with the rifle will get in the way.   From what I am getting here, I kind of wasted my money on the Troy sight.  It looks pretty cool, but that's not really my main goal.  If I'm missing something please let me know.  Like I said, brand new and trying to learn as much as I can.
