Ok, I am looking to either buy or build an AR within the next 6 months or so. In the last few days, I have read a lot of information on this site!! I have a question concerning the front sights. I read some in the BUIS FAQ thread, and see you can get a flip up front sight. How do you go about getting the original front sight off of the barrel to place a BUIS flip up front sight, to go along with a flip up rear? I would see this being good so I could still mount a standard scope on the rifle with a flat-top, and, in a short amount of time, be able to take that scope off and use the iron sights. I am thinking of the quick release scope mounts that Leupold and others are coming out with for mounting the scope on. Any help, and explanations would be great!! Thanks, Marcial |
| The fixed iron sight will not be an issue at all. From someone who went with a PRI flip fornt I suggest going without one for a while before deciding. Next you need to knock out the taper pins that hold the FSB in if you want it removed. This can be a pain in the ass sometimes. I had to cut mine off as one pin would NOT come out not matter what I did. |
+1 leave the fixed front sight and just get a flip buis. you will not see the front sight through the magnified scope |
