Do you sight in at 25 yrds or 50 yrds if you want to be + or - 2 inches out to 250 yds. I may be totally wrong but I believe I read something along those lines here one time....Thanks....LL.. |
No. The EOTech should not have to be lined up with the front sight. Go to your local range, setup your rifle (with EOTech on it) on a good solid rest (sandbags, etc.) and place target at 50 yards. Load up your rifle, aim through the EOTech at a point on the target, and fire off a round. Where did the bullet land? Up, down, left, or right from where you aimed? Make adjustments on the EOTech. Remember each click equals 1/2 MOA or 1/2" of movement at 100 yards. Since you are shooting at 50 yards you have to do a little math. If you need to move 2 inches up, you would not just click it four times, but eight times. Multiply by 2. Once you think your EoTech is good to go, shoot some more. If the bullets are hittling where you are aiming then you're done. Enjoy. |

...my two cents (if even that), regarding the EOTech in conjunction with the iron sights. I'm not disputing that the two are not to be used together. However, I'd zero'd my irons already before having moved on to zero'ing the EOTech. It was helpful to aim using the irons, then align the holo's point of aim accordingly. The holo was way off out of the box, but I got within an inch this way before even firing a shot. Rob |

I also use the 50 yard zero. Its about 1 inch high at 100 yards and back on at two hundred yards. check this out groups.msn.com/TheMarylandAR15ShootersSite/improvedbattlesightzero.msnw |
