Anyone know anything about this mount? I am going to put an EOTech on my rifle, and this seems like a good combo sight/mount to use.............they have them at Eagle Firearms..........here's a link for your viewing pleasure, near the bottom of the page :

I have this set up on two of my rifles.  You can cowitness in the lower 1/3 of the eotech window.  The rear sight is solid and will not fail like a folding sight might.  It looks good, it is solid, you have your elevation ajustments like a carry handle, it does not crowd the eotech view, it does not have a big mounting knob like some BUIS, it functions well overall.

I put it on my build using a AA eotech, I ended up doing a second biuld using a "N" cell eotech, and I came across a good price on a lightly used one... and bought it for a future build.

It is a great set up with the features of a carry handle sight, the benefit of a BUIS with a dot sight, and it is very sturdy, not likely to fail like many folding BUIS.  You don't have to fold anything up to use it.

I can't think of any other way to do the eotech!

I have one, it raises the eotech reticule slighty. it's nice not having to have to flip up a buis.

I've got one, I think it's sweet. It's a solid mount and the rear sight is right there, no need to flip the sight up. The irons are low enough in the Eotech window to not obstruct the Eo recticle.

I like the fact the mount uses hex screws and not those giant finger knobs.

It's a simple rugged design, worth it IMHO.

That is the old version on the link.

The early version attached by two allen screws on the left side of the sight.  Only about 1/4 of the unit engaged the picatinny rail on the upper.  The front 3/4 “floated” above the upper about a thousandth or so.  You could actually see a gap under the front, and push down on the front of the unit and flex it down to touch the railed upper.  It flexes back to place... but downward pressure on the from of the unit could change the point of aim on the Eotech.  The rear of the unit at the charging handle angled back like the detachable carry handle would.  On that area on the right side was RRA stamped or cast into the unit.  The sight assembly had too much of a gap with the “wings” in front of the assy, which cause the detent spring and ball to make the rear sight cant to one side looking crooked.

The new version is also identically held in place by the two allen screws on the left side, but the entire length of the right side engages the picatinny rail, thus eliminating the front of the unit from floating above the picatinny rail of the upper.  This eliminate the flexing anf the floating of the front of the unit.  The rear of the unit at the charging handle area is not angled back, and is almost 90 degrees instead of sloped back.  White lettering of RRA is now on the left side on the wing in front of the sight assy, looks laser engraved in place of the stamp/cast RRA of the early unit.  The gap between the wings and the sight assy in now less to eliminate the canting of the rear sight.

You want the new model.

Yeah Like he said RRA redesigned it, so thats why it was backordered a while this year.

The Dominator EOTech mounts we have are the latest style with the flat back and the sight pushed back as far as possible.  The picture on our website shows the version with the angled rear but that picture was scanned from the RRA catalog and that's the pic they use. I will see if we can get a new pic up tomorrow.

If the EOTech fails, can you get the thing out of the way quckly or do you use the iron sights through the EOTech lens?

Good  question about quick removal. I just bought a 511 modle and put a GG@G quick release and it is SUPER. Like an ARMS mount with the throw lever idea but I like it better. I will add a photo later of my socom16 with an 511 EOtech

Thanks.

Apparently, that was the only good question I have ever asked here.

I was wondering about this as well.  I like the Idea of it moving the EOTech up a little bit and not have to flip up a rear sight.  The question I have is that I have to mount a front sight as well, so should I get a flip up or use the detachable that I already have.

My issues with it is that you don't get QD 100% repeat zero capability, cannot use a magnifier or a weapon mounted NV device with it. If you like your sight pictured uncluttered you are SOL (as you are stuck with the fixed rear sight).
