ok, so are there any scope mounts for the flat tops THAT HOLD PROPER SIGHTING when removed from the rifle, and placed back on?

for my 20" i have a scope mount that goes through the A2 carry handle, but i took it off once or twice and it didnt hold accuracy  when i put it back on. but, this new gun i am getting will have a flat top rear, so i need a quick detach mount for that.

or, am i just SOL and would have to resight it in everytime i put it back on??

Try an ARMS #35 QD rail mount with Medium Rings.  This system will hold zero and will put a scope at the right height on a flat-top AR.

You can also look at the Armlalite one-piece scope mount.  Mine never lost zero despite numerous removals.  However, it's not a true QD mount as it uses thumb screws.

A buddy of mine has that setup. It's a nice way to go. The LaRue would serve you well too. Neither are cheap.

I zeroed my Leupold, took off my SPR, zeroed the ARMS 40L, reattached the scope, and shot my bullet hole at 50 yards 4 times.  It re-zeroes nicely.

Depending on your height and forward-set requirements with the scope you're using, you might want to go with just the LaRue Classic QD rings.

This set up works great on my SR-25/Shepherd combo.

LaRue SPR, no question about it. $195. Returns to zero every time.

I like my Armalite one-piece.  It has returned to zero every time.  Although I must say, after getting my Larue ACOG mount, it wouldn't be hard to talk me into Larue throw levers for everything.  I've been very satisfied with Larue and it too has returned every time.

Good Luck

I tried the ASA one-piece mount (similar to the Armalite).
Was very disappointed, as the screws came loose after about 30-50 rds.
Must put loctite on it, so not very functional as a QD mount.

I have been using Warne steel Q.D. rings on a couple bolt guns. These work well, even over long periods of time. Before cinching down, slide scope foreward in its 'fit'. Same spot of  [re] placement and both rings recoil set also.
