[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Night vision help!!

I have access to either an ITT 160 or 260 cheap. Both units are "factory refurbished" and are $1000 each. They are being sold at a major outdoor store, with a 30 day warranty against malfunction, but I cannot return them for another reason. Can someone help me out with advice or a place to look to learn more? It looks like the 260 has been discontinued, but the 160 is still listed on the ITT website. Anyone know about quality, problems, etc? What kind of things do I need to know?

I'm sure that is a great deal, but I am having a very hard time justifying even $1000 for such a "toy". The only reason I am thinking about it is because I have never seen Gen 3 stuff for $1000. Thanks anyways.

hey juslearin-

here's the scoop - the units you refer to were made by ITT and have been discontinued- as far as the units themselves- they are pretty good and clear- and right now to get a gen III unit for $ 1000.00 isnt a bad deal-
i havent heard anything bad about these units, i have a couple of them laying around the shop and have played around with them with no problems.

Now that I think about it... is that a 10160 tube in that thing? Hell if it is, at $1000.00 We should buy them just to strip the tube out of them.
