I'm looking for some sort of reasonably priced optic that would be suitable to use where there would be shooting at ranges anywhere between 5 yards out to 300 yards.  Do any of you seasoned ar vets have any suggestions.  It's going to be mounted on a Bushmaster carbon 15 type 97S that has the picatinny mounting rail. so any advice on what sort of mount to use as well would be greatly appriciated.  Thanks for the help, -Steve

Hahaha, I thought you were asking me a question! Anyway, would you like magnification or not. If not, check for a used Aimpoint in the Equipment Exchange. Excellent optic that excells at close range but is good for shots to 300 yards. There is a new model Aimpoint coming out and a lot of people are selling their older models.

If you want magnification, there are a lot of models to choose from that arent very expensive. Get something variable in low power so the short range shots will be possible.

Here is what you need:

Aimppoint Comp M or Aimpoint Comp ML2

Both are identical, but the Comp M works with Night Vision, the other is the same but doesn't. C4Grant will reply to this post here is a few seconds trying to get you to buy from him . He is a good dealer.

You also want a LaRue Mount for it.
Cantilever CompM2  OR Comp M2 QD

Together this is a perfect combo for your needs ranging from 0-350 yards. Enjoy!

Don't forget EOTechs.

Their smaller center dot would be good for reaching out to 300 yds

EOTech

BTW, these can be found cheaper on here, and you don't need some stinkin' expensive ass mount for it either.

EDIT: Not to knock those that have bought some stinkin expensive ass mount, of course

Aimppoint Comp M or ML2 is good.  I would recommend it given the budge range.  You will find the centering to be great.
