US Optics.

Has anybody tried them?  I see they are setting up for a Group Buy.  I know how good they are supposed to be.

But just how good are they?

They're very pricey.  And right now I’m more into a market for a good spotting scope than a new rifle scope.

But there is Next Year.

So I’m starting to wonder more and more about them.

Any takers?

They look to be built like a tank, and cost nearly as much.  Wish I could justify the cost, but it is unlikely. Maybe someday..................................................

I approve of US Optics... I sold mine, but just because I had more scopes than rifles.  It was built like a tank and weighed about as much as one.

I recently did a side-by-side comparison of a Nightforce 5.5-22x56mm and a USO SN-3 3.8-22x44mm during dusk and dark.

With both set to the same power setting (10x), the brightness of the two was comparable.  Note that the SN-3's smaller 44mm objective was "keeping up" with the large 56mm NF objective.

The clarity of the SN-3 was WAY better than the NF.  I could make out details on a 500 yard plate with the SN-3 I couldn't even see with the NF.

Besides that, USO will make your scope to your specs.  Want 0.5 MOA clicks?  Zero stop?   Illumination?   Metric clicks?  Knob covers?  No problem.

I was convinced once I saw one first hand. "Seeing" is believing. Like you, I couldn't justify the cost without seeing and handling one.

The staff at USO are excellent. I've stopped by their Buena Park shop the past two years after SHOT. They've spent time answering questions and showing me their scopes like proud parents.

I have a SN3 and ST-10 and working on another with the Sniper Hide's Group Buy. However, I'm still going to get another Leupy for one of my projects.

And as Zak said, you'll really see the difference in clarity at longer ranges.

I have had a SN-3. The best sniper scope on the planet, along with the S&B PMII.
