What mount would I use to put the Aimpoint Optics directly on the handle of an AR-15.
Also is this better or worse than putting on just the flat top?

Thanks

The ARMS 16A is great for mounting on the handle...keeps the Aimpoint lower than the usual carry handle mount and rings.

Personally, I think the Aimpoint is too high when it is on the handle.  I used a gooseneck mount for a while and finally went ditched the A2 and went with a flattop and mounted it to the receiver.  Of the three, I like the flattop the best.  FWIW

Good Luck

Thanks for responses.
I am going to bookmark the Arm.

The flattop seems more popular from reading info in this forum seems though if you want to co-witness you would have to buy a flipup rear site.
I might be crazy but I like the look of the carry handle.  Using the Arm you could take it off very fast and add a high power scope if needed.

I use to think that too...and now $300 later I have swapped my A2 upper for an A4 and am very happy with.  I have a detachable carry handle, Aimpoint and Luppy along with a 300m KAC rear site for when the carry handle is not being used.

If you plan to use any kind of magnified optic, you will eventually want the flattop.  IMHO

This is why most of us own more than one AR.  I love my 16" A2.  It's a fun gun.

However, when using an Aimpoint, EOTech or traditional scope you can't beat the flat top uppers.  It gets the optic closer to the bore, which is important for a good cheek weld AND accuracy and different distances.  The flat top is just so much more versatile.

Keep your A2 as it is and start saving your pennies for another upper.  Or, swap out the A2 for an A3/A4.  People in your local Hometown forum might be able to help you with that task.

And yes, you'll need a good BUIS.

For a fixed BUIS I highly recommend the LaRue.  For a flip-up I think the Troy is the cat's meow.

Thanks Boookhound, So its more accurate with the flatop, makes sense seems like most people have the flat top upper.
Sorry for the confusion, I do have the M4/A3, I was trying to decide which way to go.
