I have a Recce Carbine upper built by ADCO firearms waiting for me when I get home from Iraq. In a perfect world, I'd put a 4x ACOG with BAC and cross-hair reticle on it.  Since Trijicon doesn't make that, I'm thinking the TA-50-4R would be the way to go. It's a compact ACOG, 3 power, BAC and has a red crosshair reticle.

IIRC, both Brou and Tat have these on their rifles.

What am I missing regarding pros and cons of going this route?

You aren't missing much, though I'd say you should seriously consider the triangle instead.

I love my TA50-2 amber triangle compact ACOG.

I've shot the full sized ones, and I don't feel like I'm giving up much, if any.

The triangle gives you precision at the tip - 0 moa.

The triangle gives you fast acquisition with the large size of the triangle itself.

FYI - TA-50-4R is a 3x, not a 3.5x.

That model is my favorite.  I hated the 2x yellow triangle I got to play with.  The only down side to the 3x red crosshair model is good luck finding one.

The TA50R-4 is a great model. I have it on my 20" upper, and its easy to use and very precise. The crosshairs are very thin, and dont hide the target.

Id be the first in line for that if they ever made it....

I was told that anecdotally, the late founder of Trijicon was told this on number occasions. Who knows? If not for his untimely death, there might be such a product for us.

Thanks for the input guys. This reaffirms my inclination.
