My Remington 700 PSS/LTR should be coming in tomorrow. Now I need to order a scope and some rings/base for it. I dont know if I need a 3x9 or a 8x24 Leupold scope.... I know the .308 cartridge will be good to ~800 or so yards but I have pretty bad eye sight. Suggest some scopes for a blind kid that wants to hit grapefruits at 800 yards :) I seriously want to punch .3-.5" holes at 100 yards and be able to take a 300 yard shot on a nice sized buck next year.... my all around rifle. What base/rings are the 'best' and why? I've seen some different bases with a 10 or 20* MOA built in... I have NO clue what thats for. |
Those cant the scope to give you added elevation. Most scopes will run out of elevation adjustment at about 1000 yards (varies on scope, cartridge, etc.....) For your application, I don't see the need for one of those bases. Scopewise, maybe a 3.5-10x 40mm, something like that. Maybe a bit more magnification. There's a deal on a Leupold Mark IV base and rings in the equipment exchange. Good stuff, very heavy duty |
