[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Differences in Aimpoint models?

I've searched the threads and have not found any discussion between the different Aimpoint models. (The ones I've seen the most are the 7000SC, the ML and the ML2)

I'm curious what are the advantages and disadvantages of them.

Aimpoint no longer make the ML or M. The major diff. between the old COMP M's and the M2 is battery life (I also believe the M2 is much more rugged). The "M" series is Aimpoint's Military line. All the other models are more geared towards hunting. To confuse more confusion, Aimpoint is about to release the ML3 and M3!

and the M2 is night vision compatible,

Is there a reason why I might choose a compact over a regular model? Are there any negatives to having short tube over a long one?
