Just got the new Cabelas shooting catalog and it has a new Bushnell Holosight called the XLP. From what I have seen of the collaboration between the two, I was wondering if EO Tech made the new sight. It seems to have a MUCH lower profile but smaller viewing window. Unfortunately, neither the EO Tech nor the Bushnell web sites have any info.

From what I ran across on a third party website, the XLP uses AAA batteries (versus N or AA for the other Holosights from both companies). Since the current EOTechs were designed with the AR rifle system in mind, could this be a model designed for .22s or maybe for shotguns?
I've heard rumors that EOTech is going to unveil several new products at the SHOT show, including a 2x magnifier that clips on to their regular sight (competition for the 2x Aimpoint and the ACOG). This might be something else they're going to release. I can easily see them mounting their metal hood over the window and rubberizing the buttons. We just have to wait about a week to see what becomes of this.

I can't help but wonder if the XLP would work on a Swan Sleeve and cowitness. It'd be great to know some specs, battery life in particular. The XLP isn't on the Bushnell web site as of last night.

This is a special project for Bushnell at the request of Bushnell.

It is an EOTech design and are manufactured by EOTech for Bushnell, but EOTech will not market a version with their name on it.

Excellent...  To get the AA version of the EOtech, you have to shell out $$.

It may not be 'combat worthy', but all my guns don't need combat worthy optics.
Heck, my main gun probably doesn't need combat worthy optics either.

Do you (or anyone) know if Bushnell is discontinuing their earlier  HOLOSight versions?  I have a direct acct (of sorts) and was attempting to order the  52-0021 last week & the Bushnell rep said that it is discontinued and that their new catalog will be out in ~ 1 week.   That was all the info I obtained (2nd-hand) & I was quite perplexed (their website still lists the  52-0021 as "NEW" ~ so why discontinued?!) until I came across this new "XLP"  Holosight right here on ar15.com (this place rocks hoping

Paje,

I am not shure about what Bushnell carrys and what they plan to discontinue.

As fas as a chaep scope, I am not sure about the price, more info should be available after the shot show.  as far as AAA batteries, you can get lithium version which will give double the battery life.

Has anyone called Cabelas and asked if they actually have the thing in stock?

They don't... if you try & add the XLP to your Cabela's "shopping cart" you'll see that they aren't expecting any in for a while yet.
